Good to know

Questions before you start

Where is my data stored?

In your private account, in the cloud. Records are encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up daily, and visible only to you and the people you invite. We never sell your data, and you can export everything anytime as a full backup of your records and photos — yours to keep or restore from.

Can I import an existing garden?

Yes, without retyping. A spreadsheet or CSV export imports directly, with the columns matched up for you. Apps that won't export still come along: paste your plant list, or upload screenshots of it, and each plant is rebuilt with a care profile on the way in. You review the whole list before anything is saved.

What is included free?

A first garden: up to 15 plants and 100 photos, with beds, seeds, journal entries, and care schedules without limit; this season's recaps and memories; today's weather advice and the planting-windows calendar; the sowing calendar from your frost dates; 3 AI plant identifications and 10 AI imports to try; one view-only member; and a full export any time. Free doesn't expire. Premium is for the whole garden — unlimited plants and photos, and every season you've kept.

How does AI confirmation work?

The camera reads what's in front of it — a plant, a tag, a seed packet, a receipt, a soil report — into a form you review before saving. Every field stays editable, low confidence is said out loud, and nothing is written to your garden until you tap Save. It can be wrong; that's why you're in the loop.

Can I export or cancel?

Both, anytime. Settings → Your Data exports everything as a ZIP you can restore from. Premium's 7-day trial takes a card but charges nothing until it ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing at all. A paid plan can be cancelled from Settings and keeps Premium until the period you paid for ends. Every record stays on the free plan either way — Free simply stops at 15 plants, 100 photos, and this season's history.

Can I share my garden with someone who doesn't have the app?

Yes. Any plant, bed, journal entry, season, or the whole garden can be published as a public share page — a clean, read-only link that opens in any browser, no account needed. It shows what you chose and nothing else (never your spending or documents), and you can turn the link off any time. For someone who should see the binder itself, every plan includes a view-only seat, and Premium adds more.

Is there a referral program?

Yes — a month each. Share your personal link from Settings → Invite a friend; when a friend signs up through it and records their first plant, bed, seed packet, or journal entry, you both get 30 days of Premium. Up to 12 friends a year, and if you're already paying, the days are banked and applied when your subscription ends.

We keep a community garden — what does it cost?

Nothing. Community gardens and nonprofits get a Club garden: one shared binder for the plot, with 20 volunteers who can all post waterings, harvests, and photos. It's free for a year at a time, and keeping it is one tap from the garden's owner each year. Email hello@gardenbinder.app with the group's name and we'll send a club code. Plant ID and AI capture stay on each person's own plan.

I run a garden club — is there a group rate?

There is. Garden clubs, seed libraries, and Master Gardener programs get a group rate on Founders' Lifetime for their members' own gardens. Email hello@gardenbinder.app with the group's name and rough size and we'll send a code your members enter at checkout.

Is there a phone app?

Yes, two ways. GardenBinder for iPhone is on the App Store. And the same binder runs in any phone's browser, iPhone or Android: add it to your home screen and it opens like an app, reads offline, and the + button captures a plant or a journal entry in a couple of taps. One account, the same garden on every device, and on a laptop with the full layout.

What am I looking at in these screenshots?

One garden, kept in GardenBinder season after season. Every screen on this page is an unretouched capture of the app running it — the journal entries, the seed library, the mapped yard, the receipts. Your binder starts with the first entry and grows the same way.

Every garden has a story.

The best day to start the journal was last spring. The second best is today.
